Dermatologically tested

Laundry sheets

Skin-irritation tested to OECD Test Guideline 439 by an independent lab, not just checked on paper.

What this means

OECD TG439 is the internationally recognised method for skin irritation. The finished formulation is applied to reconstructed human epidermis, lab-grown human skin tissue, and the tissue is measured for irritation. It is an in-vitro method, so no animals and no volunteers are involved. It is how we back a claim with data rather than adjectives.

Our laundry sheets carry this testing today. The dishwasher, multi-surface and conditioner sheets do not yet, and we would rather show you the gap than word around it.

Certified biodegradable

OECD 301B certified

The sheets are OECD 301B certified biodegradable: the international standard for ready biodegradability.

What this means

OECD 301B is an internationally recognised method for ready biodegradability: it measures how much of a substance breaks down under controlled conditions. The certification covers our sheets, so the wash leaving your machine breaks down rather than persisting. What we require of each raw material going in is a separate check, on its own card.

Checked against ECHA’s lists

Every formulation

Before any ingredient goes in, we check it against the European Chemicals Agency’s lists of endocrine disruptors, CMR substances and Substances of Very High Concern.

What this means

ECHA is the EU body that classifies chemicals. CMR stands for carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic to reproduction. Our checking process excludes ingredients on these lists, and we re-check whenever the lists are updated. This is our own checking process against ECHA’s published lists, not an ECHA endorsement.

FSC-certified packaging

FSC certified

The box is FSC-certified card from responsibly managed forests, fully recyclable, with no plastic anywhere.

What this means

The Forest Stewardship Council certifies that the card we use is traceable to responsibly managed forests. The box and tape go straight in your recycling. The sheets never become waste at all: they dissolve completely in the wash.

Every component of every fragrance, named

No exceptions

The word fragrance is a legal black box that can stand for dozens of undisclosed chemicals. We publish ours in full.

What this means

A single fragrance entry on a label can represent a blend of 50 to 200 or more individual chemicals, and no rule requires any of them to be named. Every component of every Dip fragrance is published on our ingredients page, so you can look up anything you like before it comes near your home.

Vegan and cruelty free

Every product

No animal-derived ingredients, and no animal testing at any stage.

What this means

This holds across the range, hardware included. Where an ingredient class is commonly animal-derived, as softening actives often are, we say so on the ingredients page rather than leaving you to guess.

Formulated without the non-negotiables

Every raw material

Five groups of ingredients are permanently excluded from our supply chain, whatever they would do for a formula.

What this means

The exclusions apply to every raw material, functional active, surfactant and fragrance blend we buy.

Carcinogens, mutagens and reproductive toxins, whether proven, probable or suspected. Endocrine and hormone disruptors, including materials under regulatory review as one. Phthalates, parabens, bisphenols, and polycyclic and nitro musks. Persistent chemicals: PFAS, PFOA and PFOS, PCBs, dioxins, furans and bioaccumulative toxins. High-risk sensitisers, by name: Lyral, Methyl Salicylate, Evernia furfuracea and Evernia prunastri.

Screened against five lists

Every ingredient

Every ingredient is checked against five published sources before it can go into a formula.

What this means

The five: the EU CLP classifications and ECHA’s databases, for CMR substances. IARC and SCCS, for cancer and consumer-safety findings. The global watchlists of endocrine disruptors. Our own allergen ban list. And our banned chemical groups, from phthalates and parabens to PFAS.

We re-check whenever one of those lists is updated, which is what makes it a standard rather than a one-off audit.

Aquatic hazard codes, not triggered

On the safety data sheet

Each finished formula carries a hazard classification on its safety data sheet, and it does not trigger the CLP aquatic classifications H400, H410 and H411.

What this means

Those three codes are what put a dead-fish symbol on a bottle. A safety data sheet has to be produced for every formula we sell, and the hazard classification it carries is where this comes from. It says the formula does not meet those hazard thresholds. It is not a claim that the formula is 100% guaranteed to be safe for aquatic life, but we are doing our very best.

What this means

Shopify Planet works out the carbon footprint of each shipment and buys offsets to match it. We name the provider so you can read how it works rather than take our word for it.

Where a formula does not yet carry a test, we say so on the card rather than filling the space with words. Test certificates and screening records are held on file.

Six commitments behind every sheet

These are not aspirations. They are the gates a formula has to pass before it reaches your door, and the reason the Cut List below exists at all.

Every ingredient named, no exceptions

Every component of every formula is published in full, fragrance included. Nothing sits behind a catch-all word. You cannot make a healthy choice about something you cannot see.

Fragrance with integrity

Every fragrance component is checked against ECHA’s published lists of endocrine disruptors, CMR substances and Substances of Very High Concern before it earns a place, and we do not use any that are known endocrine disruptors.

Formulated past compliance

Compliance was written for hazards, not for health as it is lived in a home. We will not use an ingredient that is banned in cosmetics but still permitted in cleaning products, and we publish the Cut List that results.

It has to work, or it does not ship

A product that cannot match what it replaces is not a healthier choice, it is a chore. Efficacy is tested before anything else is discussed, and the 90-day guarantee stands behind the answer.

Nothing arrives without paperwork

Every raw material and every fragrance blend arrives with an IFRA certificate, vegan and cruelty-free declarations, a supplier declaration covering the groups we exclude, and proof of European CLP and detergent-safety compliance.

Verified before it ships

Safety data sheets and allergen composition sheets from the supplier. Laboratory testing outside Dip on raw material safety and performance. Then our own consumer and panel testing, on the finished product.

Why we cut itChlorine-based bleach is a respiratory and skin irritant, and it is the main reason tablet packets carry warning symbols. It is also why they win on tea stains. That is a trade we will not make.

Why we cut itPhosphates feed the algal blooms that suffocate rivers and lakes, which is why the EU capped them. The industry’s replacement, phosphonates, dodges the cap but biodegrades poorly and persists in waterways instead.
